We make choices every day. Some are easy, some are hard, but some give us pause and make us take a deep breath to overcome what’s running through our minds. It’s too hard or even impossible, what will people say or think, it’s way outside my comfort zone or a million other convincing messages. The choice may be as small as trying a new food or as big as changing careers. They require you to take a chance, to realize that failure or success are possible outcomes. They require a leap of courage.
Last year I made some big decisions. I quit my job, sold my house, paid off my debts and moved across the globe to become a Peace Corps Volunteer serving in South Africa. Some choices to get here were easy, but others took hard work or didn’t turn out the way I envisioned, but I persevered.
We are surrounded by stories as others take on challenges in their lives, some stories are on the surface, others are unspoken. Our choices make us become who we are. I am hoping through this blog that we can inspire each other the courage to take leaps big and small.
The views presented here are my own and do not reflect those of Peace Corps or the United States government.
